Cycling

Around 200 miles of cycle tracks, byways and bridleways, from gentle family rides to the full Round the Island route.

The Isle of Wight is a favourite with cyclists. There are around 200 miles of cycle tracks, byways and bridleways, quiet country lanes between the villages, and routes to suit everyone from families to experienced riders.

From Moorlands you are right at the foot of the downs. Brighstone Forest, just above the village, is popular with mountain bikers, while the lanes inland lead to Calbourne, Shorwell and Mottistone. The West Wight is hilly, so an electric bike makes light work of the climbs.

Bringing your bike

Red Funnel, Wightlink and Hovertravel can all carry bikes, but check booking requirements before you travel. Bikes are also allowed on the island’s trains.
